Oil and gas production produces large volumes of water that must be treated before injection to a disposal well. As production matures, the water cut increases, which results in continuously increasing volumes of water that require disposal. As disposal wells typically are below groundwater aquifers, at appreciable depth and pressure, well space is at a premium. If disposal slows or stops, the operator must also slow or cease production. MYCELX media can remove all oil from produced water, with no chemical treatment or increased infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted production.
Traditional treatment equipment is designed to remove free oil, but not solids and strong dispersions/emulsions. Disposal facilities are also designed for the minimum amount of treatment to perform with little intervention and/or maintenance.
MYCELX REGEN is an advanced backwashable media infused with our patented polymer. During backwash, all oil trapped on and between the media is recovered without any chemical denaturing. Superior OIW and TSS removal (5 microns) compared with NSF (10 microns) eliminates the need for additional treatment in many applications and extends the injection life of the disposal well.
